California chemist publishes medical mystery


DEL MAR, CA Woodrow Wilson has published a medical mystery.  His The Utah Flu tells the story of a deadly new disease spreading across the country. Anthrax-like, but contagious and incurable: could it a biological weapon? It started in Utah. Could it be an escaped Army germ? The Army says itÕs not theirs. Could it be bioterrorism? The Centers for Disease Control and the Army race to find the answers.


The author is a Caltech PhD with a career in research and research management. He consulted to the Army Medical Research Command on the management of research developing medical protection for the soldier. He contributed to Army investigations of new malaria drugs and to Air Force anthrax studies. His familiarity with military medical research contributes to the realism in his novel.

About the Author



Woodrow Wilson is a Caltech PhD with more than thirty years experience in research and research management for the military and intelligence communities. He supported military research programs developing medical protection against nuclear, biological and chemical warfare as well as against indigenous diseases. He supported Army projects handling and disposing of obsolete chemical ammunition. He has explored space and other exotic environments in the laboratory and in the computer.  He contributed to the design and testing of space-based and ground-based anti-ballistic missile defenses. He has studied chemistry at 10,000¡F, 30,000 mph collisions, plus fires and explosions in zero gravity, the aurora borealis, and more.
